Happy holi!

Today at school all of the students of hindu faith were celebrating holi, the festival of colours! It was very much true to its name, and saw us students being painted with a chalk kind of henna like power. They were all so high spirited and playful on this very happy holi day :)

From what I've read the festival is on every March at the end of the full moon and is a celebrationg marking the end of winter.
Most of the bright colours are all natural and actually quite good for your skin too!
You should if you have the time, search some photos of the festivals in India, they're just gorgeous! I would love to attend one day.

Caught in a rut

So since I've been back in Australia I've had to start back at school. I'm doing my final year, and if I hadn't gone overseas last year I would have been graduated already.
It has all been as expected, not easy.
But it honestly isn't the fact that I'm in a new year and don't really know anybody and that I don't get to see my best friends everyday anymore.
I really just feel like I am not learning anything by being at school anymore. I feel like I skipped a step last year by going away and getting out into the world, but now I am placed two steps backwards.

I don't believe that our education system provides us with what we need to live out in the world, living out in the real world gives you that. Making mistakes, trying new things, exploring, embracing, learning from your surroundings and meeting new people. That is the education that I wish to have.

I hate this outdated conventional way we are all expected to live our lives; finish highschool, go to university, get married, have kids, climb the career ladder, retire, die.
This is what we are told every day going to school, by our parents even ads on T.V that this is what being  'succesful' entails.
I'm smart or brainwashed enough to know that I have to work hard this year, and I am prepared to do that, it's just that looming idea of 'is it all worth it' that may prevail me.

It's a weird weird world baby.

Last look; Stockholm airport to catch a plane homebound.

12 hours down, 11 more to go...

In transit at the Bangkok airport, this place was crazy huge!

And touch down in Melbourne Australia; the view from my hotel room.
My first Australian fika! Melbourne coffee has to be some of the best in the world, but the Swedish fika experience and sizes tops it!
The beauty of jetlag and not being able to sleep on a 46hour trip.
St Kilda beach
The beutiful palais theatre
The organisation that made the amazing year I've had possible.

I love these suitcase speakers! Such a good idea. @Melbourne arts market.

A stranger made this for me, the ability for kindness of some people just warms my heart.

I have been very neglectful to any responsibilities to unpack and organise my stuff, this is as far as I have gotten. School starts tomorrow and I'm still working on unpacking my somewhat fantasy old life.

Okay before I start filling in, I just have to say I fucking hate Australian internet! I never remembering it being this bad, it has literally taken me all day to upload this post!
But just becuase I am no longer in Sweden, and the internet's slowness makes me want to pull my hair out and chuck my laptop out the window, it all doesn't mean I want to and or am going to stop with this blog. I think it is a good motivater for me to document things, which is very important, just take a look at history if you don't believe me.
I hardly have strength to look back on my last few days in Sweden to be able to tell you how it was. It all seems a lifetime away which breaks my heart to think how distant from reality that life I had has become. It was sad, but I knew it was coming, and I'm glad for the people I got to spend time with before I had to leave.
The flight was well LONG, I flew with Thai and they had pretty yummy food, but unlike our flight over neither of the plans had T.V's so as I have chrnoic no sleeping on planes syndrome, the flight was very dull as I had to try make games up in my head as everyone else slept.
We had a 2ish hour stop in Bangkok where more goodbye had to be said to the Sydney and Queenslanders that I spent my year with and had to board seperate planes. This was really hard again, but there was that buzz in the air that airports everywhere seem to carry of fluster and hurry, so although meaningful the goodbyes were short and sweet.
Once I landed in Melbourne, my first impression was SHIT I've landed in the wrong airport as my understanding of the Australian accent had become quite rusty so for some reason "Welcome to Melbourne" In my ears sounded like "Welcome to Brisbane". And then the next 30minutes were feared with nerves and shows like border secruity for how strict Australian customs is meant to be freaked me out!!! But it was no worries I went to the gates and there were heaps of families there and signs and stuff, but no sign of my mum and dad, so I walked around for a bit then finally found them standing at a different gate anticipating my coming through of those doors, so I snuck up on them and gave them both a bit of a scare.
I was so grateful that my mum had booked a hotel inmy favourite suburb of Melbourne, St Kilda to stay in. I went straight to sleep then the next morning embraced Melbourne full on, in inappropraitely warm clothing not suited for the Australian summer.
Since I've been back in my home town it's been a bit wei
rd. Like everyone else here has been stuck in a stand still. I am still adjusting and it's hard, but I'm getting there.
I have two more days left till I start school so that'll be a whole other chapter..

stand and de-liver

Hej. with it coming up to my last month in Sweden and the holiday season, I have been in attempt to enjoy everything as much as possible!
The first photos are really quite old, from a trip I took to Malm
ö with my host family.
The rest are from a school trip I took to Gothenburg for the day, where we went to the Universium and I met up with my friend Jess.
It started to snow the other day where I live which is lovely. We went outside and attempted to build a snow man. and then had a snow ball fight, which if which was with more dangerous objects, it's safe no say I would be a dead man!

SNÖ IDAG!

Nothing to do with this post, but I am pretty excited to see things covered in a lovely layer of white goodness!

I am going to buy spray paints when I get back to Australia. And get good at this.
